David Uribe — Master Barber

Decades behind the chair

David Uribe is a professional licensed Barber and Cosmetologist with decades of experience. Holding both licences is unusual and it matters in practice — barbering covers the cut, the razor and the beard; cosmetology covers colour, chemical services and skin. It is the reason a single studio can offer a precision fade, a straight-razor shave, grey coverage and a facial with extractions without handing you off to somebody else.

Educator, author and speaker

Alongside his work behind the chair, David has served as a Barber Program Instructor and as a Regional Director, and he is an author and speaker within the industry. He holds a degree in Business Administration and an ITEC certification recognised in more than 41 countries.

Author — What Now?

David wrote What Now?, a career book for barbers and cosmetologists about growing beyond the chair — teaching, ownership, platform work and publishing. It came out of his own route through each of those, and it is aimed at people who have become good at the craft and are asking what the next thing is. Published in 2017 and available on Amazon.

Founder — Luxsive

He also founded Luxsive, a men’s grooming line formulated by a working barber rather than a brand team: sulfate- and paraben-free shampoo and conditioner, a water-based pomade, a matte clay and a beard/pre-shave oil. Nothing in the range is tested on animals. The products are stocked in the studio, so you can be shown what suits your hair before buying any of it.

The studio

Prestigious Image is deliberately a private, single-chair studio at 155 Majorca Avenue in downtown Coral Gables rather than an open-floor shop. One client at a time, by appointment. The clientele is largely professionals from Coral Gables, Brickell and Coconut Grove, along with public figures who would rather not sit in a waiting room. Consultations are in English or Spanish.
